FIRE and water feature in two fantastic European acts that are set to delight audiences at this year’s SO Festival.
The latest artists to be confirmed for the three-day extravaganza – one of the largest outdoor Festivals in the UK – are Bilbobasso and Cie Barolosolo, both offering shows that Skegness will never have seen before.
Bilbobasso’s unique show, called Amor, depicts a couple who have been married many years – and the only sparks that are now flying are those born from irritation and anger! The spectacular performance sees the artists ‘ignite’ household items in their family home – with flames, smoke and coloured firecrackers. Critics describe the show as a comedy, a fight and a dual!
Meanwhile Cie Barolosolo offers a completely different performance with a circus show ankle-deep in water! In a production that promises hysterical shenanigans, it is a perfect family spectacle.
Both will be free to see over the weekend of Friday, August 31 to Sunday September 2 in Skegness.
This year’s Festival is being guided by artistic director Jens Frimann Hansen from top Danish European production house, Helsingør Teater – who is bringing eight fantastic acts from Europe.
The 2018 festival is once again being co-ordinated by the Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture, partnered by Arts Council England, East Lindsey District Council, Passage Festival, Helsingor Teater, Without Walls, Coasters and Lincs FM.
Events, the vast majority free, are planned in Mablethorpe on Friday August 31 from noon until 5pm, and in Skegness on Saturday September 1, from noon until 10pm, and on Sunday, September 2, from noon until teatime.
Portfolio Holder for Coastal Economy at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Steve Kirk, said: “It’s great to see the SO Festival returning once again this year. It’s always a fantastically well attended event and I’m sure that will continue, as the festival is hugely popular with residents and visitors. The performers and acts that take part always bring something unique and I look forward to seeing them.”
